What is the difference between management and leadership? How do you know what hat to wear and when? Join the Building Better Leadership and Management Learning Community as we set the tone for this on-going meeting series with a panel discussion of the many facets of management and leadership, get inspired by NACD Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Peters on what this looks like when it is working, and learn from each other through open discussion and sharing. Whether you are an experienced or new District manager, team coordinator, or budding leader, this series is for you!


About Building Better

Leadership and management are two parallel roads that lead to team success. Depending on your role at your District, you might find yourself constantly on one of those roads, or swerving between them as the situation warrants. The road can be smooth, rocky, under construction, or turn suddenly in an unknown direction. Occasionally there may be a roadblock you need to navigate around or a side road you need to be brave enough to take. You might even be a passenger or backseat driver on this wild ride and looking to take over the wheel. Whatever your road or position, the goal is to keep moving forward and driving your team in the right direction, no matter the obstacles. But, sometimes that is easier than it sounds.

The Center for Technical Development (CTD), Washington State Conservation Commission (WSCC), Washington Association of District Employees (WADE), and Washington Association of Conservation Districts (WACD) have teamed together to bring you the Building Better: Leadership and Management Learning Community. The goal of this monthly series is to introduce different management/leadership related topics and provide information, insight, strategies and discussion amongst peers. Together we can build a better community of Washington Conservation District leaders now and into the future!

Please mark your calendar and join the Building Better community on the second Wednesday of each month from 1:00-2:30 starting August 11th.

Topics will span from successful leadership/management techniques, strategies for Board and staff interface, key elements of managing a District, creating useful annual and long-range plans, building partnerships, conducting a productive performance evaluation, and more! This series is for all levels of management and leadership staff within Washington Conservation Districts.
